Description

Didn't have much time for this April 4 image as Comet C/2020 R4 ATLAS was rising in heavy moonlight. 31 x 120 second exposures were taken and used resulting in bloated stars (a morning comet not very far up from my horizon) however richer colors.

Comet is estimated, at the this time to be around 10th magnitude, quite small and intensely green (usually the result of the carbon compounds present).

Although the comet's closest approach to the sun was March 1 and 1.03 au it is still getting closer this month. At this moment the comet is around 0.75 au from us and will be 0.4 au around April 21, 2021.
